Scripture: Philippians 3:15-16 – All of us who are mature should take such a view of things. And if on some point you think differently, that too God will make clear to you. Only let us live up to what we have already attained.
Observation: Paul is talking about pressing on in the Holy Spirit’s power knowing that Christ will fill in any discrepancies between who we are and who we should be
Application: I know for myself that this verse gives me much comfort, I know I am far from perfect and sometimes I feel discouraged because I can’t live up to what I think God wants me to be. In the past weeks I have read a book called “You’re Already Amazing” by Holley Gerth. This book put my soul at such peace because it showed me a lot of times what I am thinking I should be and who I should be is my own expectations for me and not the expectations of God. God created me just as I am and he loves me just the way I am. He gave each one of special talents and special ways to do things that no one else can. Take hold of it and show the world what you have.
Another thing this verse showed me is that the Holy Spirit will prompt me when I am not in God’s will or he will reveal me his way when when I disagree with someone on an issue.
Prayer: Lord I feel at peace knowing that the Holy Spirit is my guide. Please help me to keep pressing on and not to forget that maturity doesn’t mean I know it all, it means that I am to seek your will and your wisdom. Praise the name of Jesus. Amen.
