Scripture: Ephesians 4:31 – Get rid of all bitterness, anger and rage, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice.
Observation: How do I deal with people who can not let go of bitterness, anger, and slander.
Application: I do not understand people who continually make other people feel bad to make themselves feel better.
There comes a time in our lives when we have to take a good long look at ourselves. If everyone around you is not right or out to get you, maybe the common denomitor in the problem is us.
Maybe we need to let go of things that we “thought” we had already let go of. Bitterness and anger are smooth operators, unless you completely forgive and let go, they will rear their ugly head and take over. And believe me it is not pretty.
We don’t want to be known as people who preach the gospel of Jesus then turn around and lash out in anger or hurt people out of bitterness.
I have been dealing with this a lot lately in my own family. It does absolutely no good to bury the hatchet and leave the handle sticking out for later use.
Prayer: Lord, please help me to forgive and move on. I need to be in healthy non-bitter relationships and I need to build people up. Help me to live out Ephesians 4:31 and 4:32, help me to be compassionate, loving, and kind. Please help me to forgive as Jesus has forgiven me. Thank you for you new mercies everyday.
