A Promised Life | Part Three

Joshua 3:1–13 (NIV)
1 Early in the morning Joshua and all the Israelites set out from Shittim and went to the Jordan, where they camped before crossing over.

Thought of the Week: It is time to get out of Shiitim & to stay out of Shittim

Joshua 3:2-4
2 After three days the officers went throughout the camp, 3 giving orders to the people: “When you see the ark of the covenant of the Lord your God, and the Levitical priests carrying it, you are to move out from your positions and follow it. 4 Then you will know which way to go, since you have never been this way before. But keep a distance of about two thousand cubits between you and the ark; do not go near it.”

Get out By Following The Promises Of God

Joshua 3:5
5 Joshua told the people, “Consecrate yourselves, for tomorrow the Lord will do amazing things among you.”

Stay Out By Consecrating Yourself To God

Consecration By Contemplation

Scripture:

2 Thessalonians 1:11 (NIV)
11 With this in mind, we constantly pray for you, that our God may make you worthy of his calling, and that by his power he may bring to fruition your every desire for goodness and your every deed prompted by faith.

Observation:
The author of this letter Paul is letting the church know how he is praying for them. They are always on his mind like a song you just can't stop humming all day long. His pray is that by the promised power from God their lives will have results of goodness and action.

Application:
I desire to have God on my mind all day long. That prayers would be natural and consistent. I want to be empowered by the Holy Spirit to not only live for God, but to help others discover salvation too.

Prayer:
Lord I pray that every desire for goodness by your goodness for your glory. Bless my wife and kids today. May the people of HOPE sense your love today in a new way.

Joshua 3:16-16 (NIV)
15 Now the Jordan is at flood stage all during harvest. Yet as soon as the priests who carried the ark reached the Jordan and their feet touched the water’s edge, 16 the water from upstream stopped flowing. It piled up in a heap a great distance away, at a town called Adam in the vicinity of Zarethan, while the water flowing down to the Sea of the Arabah (that is, the Dead Sea) was completely cut off. So the people crossed over opposite Jericho.

No Matter What! God’s Wants You Out and to Stay Out.
